The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places legal duties on responsible persons to take general fire precautions to ensure as far as reasonably practicable the safety of any employees and relevant persons who are not employees but may be affected by his actions.
The correct installation of emergency lighting is a legal requirement under Article 14(h) of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the requirement is for responsible persons to ensure emergency routes and exits that require illumination are provided with emergency lighting of adequate intensity in the case of failure.
